Biographical notes
Lucio Maria Morra was born in 1952 in Fossano, a town in the Province of Cuneo.
In 1976, on the thresholds of the degree, he interrupted the Pure Mathematics studies (scholarship holder of the Einaudi’s Foundation from 1971 to 1975 and of the CNR in 1974/75 in the university of Turin) to follow his artistic path and start working as painter.
In 1977 he moved to Brazil, where he lived until 1983. Back to Italy he has been living in Province of Cuneo, actually at Sant'Albano Stura.
During ten years, from 1976 to 1986, he has produced around two thousands graphic and pictorial works, crossing all the most important modern artistic currents, from the pop art to the hyper-realism, from the symbolist painting to the informal abstract, realizing about ten exhibition, participating to various contests and getting meaningful prizes and recognitions.
His fertile production through the figurative arts has continuously been combined by a substantial and eclectic activity of study, search, experimentation and cultural promotion. And from wich has born in 1984 his interest for Gnomonics, so that since 1986 it became his main profession.
Beyond the professional dimension, he has always interpreted his own artistic path most of all as an inner journey. From 1998 he is a Buddhist monk of the Zen tradition and responsible of the Dojo Zen Sanrin.

Gnomonical curriculum
Lucio Maria Morra has been working as sundial maker since 1984 (as main activity from 1986).
In twenty years he has realized more than 150 works in Piedmont, Aosta Valley, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and in France, for public corporations and also private buyers.
Besides the construction and the restoration of the sundials, he assiduously works for the promotion of Gnomonics through publications, shows, courses and lectures. He also works for the cataloguing of the sundials heritage. He has worked as chief organizer of Cuneo Province for the National Census of the Sundials wich was commissioned by the Sezione Quadranti Solari of the Unione Astrofili Italiani.
From 1989 he participates regularly at the Seminari Nazionali di Gnomonica ed ai Convegni Regionali degli Operatori Gnomonici Piemontesi.
From 1999 to 2005 he has been co-owner with Fabio Garnero of the SOLARIA snc.
